Observations

Conjunction

I got up at around 6:25 this morning to watch the Grand Prix but after initially seeing cloud around, glanced south east out of our window and saw the Moon and Venus shining brightly just above a neighbouring rooftop. Immediately the TV went off, warm clothes went on and our went out with my camera and tripod. The view was magnificent, with the sky tinged with the first light of dawn, but still plenty of contrast to easily pick out the Moon, Venus and close-by Saturn. I set-up and took a few shots before I noticed the star Regulus, just above and to the left of the Moon. It was a beautiful way to start the day.
